Free Cardiology and Orthopedics Checkup Camp -24th September

Prior to the World Heart Day, that’s celebrated every year on 29th September, Grecian Super Speciality organized a free health check-up camp on 24th September, Sunday at our premises for the people of Punjab across specialties like Cardiology and Orthopedics.

People had already reached the venue much before the registration time. About 50+ people registered in the first half and availed the checkups. It was really great to see the people so conscious about their healthcare for a healthy life.

Our cardiologist, Dr. Sabharwal, and Dr. Danny attended scores of people and offered them the right advice they needed to keep a healthy heart. Some were diagnosed with minor ailments and further treatment was suggested. Similarly, our Orthopedician, Dr. Vishal, and Dr. Sanjeev too attended a lot of people, mainly old people with joint pain, and offered them tips to keep their limbs moving. Few who suffered from joint related issues we also suggested the right treatment.

Grecian Speciality Hospital intends to organize more of such camps in the weeks ahead and looks forward to benefiting more and more people from Punjab and nearby areas.

High Blood Pressure: The Types, Symptoms, and Recommended Treatment

The amount of force exerted against the walls of the arteries as blood flows through them is known as blood pressure. When the blood pressure is high, it’s also known as hypertension. Having a high blood pressure means that the walls of the arteries are receiving too much pressure. If the pressure is chronologically high, it’s diagnosed as hypertension.

In India, 1 in every 3 adults suffers from hypertension. And if left untreated or uncontrolled, high blood pressure can cause many health problems. These conditions include heart failure, vision loss, stroke, and kidney disease.

What is high blood pressure?

The heart is a muscle that pumps blood throughout the body constantly – every second. Blood that is low on oxygen levels is pumped towards the lungs, where the blood is oxygenated. Anyone whose blood pressure is 140/90 mmHg or more for a sustained period is said to have high blood pressure, or hypertension.

Neurologist – Know If You Need to Consult One

A neurologist is a medical doctor who specializes in treating diseases of the nervous system. The nervous system is made of two parts: the central and peripheral nervous system. It includes the brain and spinal cord.

When to consult a Neurologist?

  1. Early identification of symptoms like sudden difficulty in speaking, smiling, walking, raising arms etc. is extremely important to diagnose a stroke. The stroke is completely curable if immediate medical treatment is given to the patient.
  2. Other symptoms such as unconsciousness, shaking of limbs, frothing from the mouth, self-rolling of eyes are suggestive of epilepsy and immediate consultation with a neurologist is required as it is a fully treatable disorder.
  3. Forgetfulness in family members is often regarded as a part of aging or stress but a neurologist should immediately be consulted as these symptoms could be due to dementia. This condition too may either be completely cured or partially relieved by medicines. Dementia has a great effect on the ability of a person to think and the family needs to change according to the manner of care and have a person to stay with the patient throughout the day.

What can be done to prevent Neurological Diseases?

While epilepsy, brain tumors, and few other diseases may not be preventable but there are some of the problems that one can prevent with the following:

  1. Diet Modification – Adopt a balanced, low-fat diet.
  2. Regular exercise and increased physical activity
  3. Avoid smoking
