This new year, Grecian Super Specialty Hospital organised its first blood donation camp in the Sukhna Enclave Community Hall at Sukhna Enclave, Kaimbwala on the 6th of January, 2019 Sunday. Among the doctors present were Pathologist, Dr. Alena Jain and Consultant-Transfusion Medicine, Dr. Neha Syal. The event that lasted for around 3 hours started at around 11.00 am in the morning saw the presence of more than 50 donors who were initially examined by Dr. Alena for fitness for donation. She made the residents aware about the benefits of blood donation and explained how donors were less prone to heart disease and heart attacks. “Blood donation is a healthy practice that reduces the risk of cancer in individuals, increases the production of RBCs, lowers the cholestrol level and also helps in weight loss”, said Dr Neha Syal. “Every healthy individual should donate blood once in every six month as it helps replenish blood as well as aids in fighting off hemochromitosis”, Dr Neha further added. The event finally concluded at 2.00 pm in the afternoon.
